Dear Families,
Happy New Year! I'm really looking forward to seeing the kids on Monday.
This semester is starting off with some social studies units that I'm REALLY looking forward to teaching. Fourth grade will be doing an in-depth unit on the state of Missouri. Everything from the geography, the people, the government, natural resources, etc. Fifth grade will be learning all about Westward Expansion: The Louisiana Purchase, Lewis and Clark, Pioneers, the Oregon Trail, etc. Both units are going to be chock-full of information, interaction and fun.
Some important information that teachers have been asked to pass-on to you from the staff meeting, yesterday:
*Casino Night is February 1st!!! Buy your tickets on the website. Bring friends and family. PLEASE volunteer for this event.
*Only GREEN fleece coats from Lands End with the school emblem may be worn inside. All other hoodies, etc, MAY NOT be worn in the building. Students in K-5 may only wear navy pants and shorts. Girls plaid skirts must be NO LESS than 2 inches above the knee.
*Students dressing out-of-uniform on buy-out days are expected to bring money for the cause or else are to be in uniform.
Other important information:
*All assignments will no longer be worth 100 points. Points per assignment will be determined by number of questions, length, type of assignment, etc. However, the percentage values that assignments are worth in terms of the overall grade (classwork, homework, test) will remain the same,
*After talking with Dr. Hall, it has been decided that students can NO LONGER correct tests for 50% credit back.
*All weekly assignments and homework are due by Friday unless otherwise noted. Assignments will only be accepted 1 day late and only 50% credit will be given.
Blessings,
Scarlett Weis
