Dear Families,
It’s been a great first week back! We finished the book “Mr Popper’s Penguins” today in 4th grade and the students began a book report project on the book. The students also really enjoyed learning about the geography of Missouri and they all did EXCELLENT on the quiz about Missouri’s border states and map coordinates.
This week:
Quiz on Friday over Missouri geography-start of Missouri river into the state of Missouri ( near Kansas City) where the Missouri River leaves the state of Missouri (near St. Louis). Location of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers, Kansas City, St. Louis, Jefferson City and Springfield. Also the Glaciated Till Plain, Ozark Highlands, Osage Plains, Mississippi Lowlands and Alluvial River Plain. (There WILL BE a word bank for kids)
In 5th grade, the students really absorbed the information about the Louisiana Purchase and we had some great class discussions. In writing, the 5th graders began writing their first article (about the Louisiana Purchase) for the newspaper they will create with many articles to come, about Westward Expansion.
This week:
Quiz on Lewis and Clark and the Corp of Discovery (all info covered in class) on Friday. Spelling packets due Friday.
I will be out Monday and Tuesday as I have a prior contract with the Hurley School District to do reading testing 3 times a year.
Many Blessings!
Scarlett Weis, MaEd
